What this tool does
If you run ads in Arabic, your English blocked words list is doing nothing for you. Not a reduced amount of something. Nothing. A keyword filter compares text to your list, and none of your Arabic comments contain the word crypto, so none of them ever match.
The reason nobody hands you an Arabic list is that you cannot make one by translating an English one. The scams running under Arabic ads are their own scripts, and the wording is regional: بغيت in Casablanca and بدي in Beirut mean the same thing and share no letters at all. A translated list reads like a textbook and matches nothing real.
So these lists were written as Arabic. Modern Standard is on by default, because it is what most copy and paste scam scripts use, and you can add the dialects your market actually types in. Tick only yours: Facebook caps the list at around 1,000 keywords, and Maghrebi words are dead weight to a Saudi page.

How to add an Arabic hidden words list on Instagram
The steps are the same as any other language. The only thing that changes is what you paste, which is the thing nobody gives you.
- 1Pick your dialects and copy the listLeave Modern Standard on and tick the dialect your market actually types in. Ticking all five is tempting and it is usually wrong, because it fills your keyword budget with words your audience will never use.
- 2Open Hidden Words in InstagramGo to your profile, tap the menu, then Settings and activity, then find the Hidden Words section.
- 3Open Manage custom words and phrasesThis is your own list, separate from Instagram's built in offensive word filter.
- 4Paste and savePaste the list in and confirm. The field wants entries separated by commas, which is what this tool gives you, and it handles Arabic exactly like any other text.
- 5Turn on the built in filter tooSwitch on Instagram's own offensive words filter while you are there. Be aware it is noticeably better in English than in Arabic, which is precisely why your own list matters more here.
How to add blocked words on an Arabic Facebook Page
Facebook calls the same idea Content Moderation and takes the same comma separated list.
- 1Copy your listSwitch the platform above to Facebook Page, then press Copy list.
- 2Open Content ModerationFrom your Page go to Settings, then Privacy, then Public Posts, and scroll to Content Moderation. It sits in your Page settings, not in Meta Business Suite's own settings.
- 3Paste it in and saveThe .csv upload works here too, which is easier if you are keeping one list per market.
- 4Mind the keyword budgetFacebook caps the list at around 1,000 keywords, shared across every language you add. If you run ads in Arabic and English on the same page, both lists compete for the same space, so be choosy in both.
What an Arabic list catches, and what it misses
This list is genuinely worth having, and it is more useful than the English equivalent for a simple reason: Meta's own filters are weaker in Arabic, so your own list is carrying more weight. It still cannot do the things a word list cannot do.
What the list catches
- The scam scripts that repeatInvestment bait, fake giveaways, and account recovery pitches reuse the same wording under every Arabic ad, because the same people are posting them. A list kills them on sight, free, forever.
- Contact bait in your own market's wordsراسلني خاص, صيفط ليا, كلمني. All the same move, in the words your audience actually types, which is exactly what an English list has nothing to say about.
- The gap Meta's own filter leavesThe built in offensive words filter is not equally good in every language. A list you paste yourself works the same in Arabic as anywhere else.
- People pretending to be your supportAdd your brand name and the list includes the fake official account phrases built around it, which is the most expensive comment on this page.
What it misses
- Spelling, which in Arabic is a real problemThis is the big one. ا, أ, and إ are different characters and people use them interchangeably. Meta does not document how its variation matching handles Arabic, so a spammer typing إستثمار may sail straight past your استثمار.
- Arabizi, the Latin letter versionA lot of Gulf and Egyptian commenters type 3arabi with numbers: 7abibi, 3ayez, esta5dam. It is Arabic written in Latin characters and an Arabic word list never matches a single one of them.
- The dialect you did not tickRun one campaign in Morocco and your Gulf list is suddenly the wrong list. The words share no letters, so there is no partial credit.
- Code switchingArabic comments mix in English and French constantly, especially in the Maghreb. Half a sentence in Darija and half in French, and your list only reads one half.
- The customer asking if you are a scamهل هذا نصب is a buyer with an objection, and answering them is how you keep the sale. Block نصاب and you hide them along with the actual scammers.
- Everything you have not seen yetThe list knows the scripts running today. The people writing them change the words, and every new one works until you notice it and add it by hand.
