What this tool does
Spam under an ad is not a nuisance, it is a cost. You paid for the impression, and a scam reply sitting at the top of your comments is the first thing your next buyer reads. The problem is that spam rarely announces itself. It hides behind a friendly emoji, a shortened link, or a support account that is not yours.
This checker reads each comment you paste and looks for the patterns spam keeps reusing: the scammer's pitch, the push into WhatsApp or Telegram, contact details, shortened links, and walls of emojis. It shows you the verdict and the exact reason behind it, so you can decide what to hide.
It is free, there is no signup and no email, and the whole thing runs in your browser. Your comments are never uploaded, because there is no server involved.
How to check your comments for spam
The checker takes one comment per line, so anything you can copy out of your comment section works. You do not need an export or a special format.
- 1Copy the comments you want to checkOpen the post or ad, select the comments, and copy them. If you would rather see how it works first, press Try an example and the tool fills itself in.
- 2Paste them one per linePaste into the box on the left. Each line is treated as its own comment, so a blank line between them is fine and gets ignored.
- 3Press Check my commentsEvery comment gets a verdict: Spam, Worth a look, or Looks fine. The checker handles up to 200 comments at a time.
- 4Read the reason, not just the verdictEach flagged comment lists what matched, like a scam pitch or a shortened link. The reason is there so you can disagree with it. You are the one deciding what to hide.
- 5Deal with the ones you agree withHide or delete the spam on your Page, and reply to anything in the Looks fine column that is a real question. Those are the comments worth your time.
How to hide a spam comment on Facebook
Hiding is usually better than deleting. A hidden comment stays visible to whoever wrote it and to their friends, so the spammer does not notice and come back with a new account.
- 1Find the comment on your PageOpen the post or ad and scroll to the comment you want gone.
- 2Open the comment menuHover over the comment and click the three dots that appear beside it.
- 3Choose Hide commentThe comment disappears for the public but stays visible to its author and their friends, so it looks to them like nothing happened.
- 4Stop it happening againAdd the phrases you keep seeing to your Page's Content Moderation list, under Settings, then Privacy, then Public Posts. Our free hidden words generator builds that list for you.
How to deal with spam comments on Instagram
Instagram gives you fewer per comment options than Facebook does, so the useful move here is the automatic filter rather than cleaning up by hand.
- 1Delete or report the commentSwipe left on the comment, or press and hold it, to bring up the actions. From there you can delete it, or report it if it is a scam.
- 2Restrict the account instead of blockingRestricting means that account's future comments are only visible to them. They are not told, so they do not simply make a new account.
- 3Turn on Hidden WordsGo to Settings and activity, then Hidden Words. Switch on the offensive words filter and add your own phrases under Manage custom words and phrases.
- 4Feed it the phrases you found hereThe spam this checker flags is the spam worth adding to that list. Our free hidden words generator produces a ready made list you can paste straight in.
What this checker catches, and what it misses
This matters more than the verdicts. A pattern checker is genuinely useful and you should use it. It is also not comment moderation, and knowing the gap saves you from thinking the job is done.
What this checker catches
- The scammer's pitchCrypto, fake giveaways, and prize claims reuse the same lines over and over. They are easy to spot because the spammer has to make an offer, and the offer is the tell.
- The push into a private chatReplies moving your buyer into WhatsApp, Telegram, or a DM nearly always name the app or point at a bio, so they are simple to catch.
- Links and contact detailsShortened links hide where they go, and a phone number or email under an ad is almost never a real customer. Both get flagged on sight.
- Walls of emojisEmoji spam carries no words at all, so a keyword filter is blind to it. This checker counts them instead, and flags the ones worth a second look.
What it misses
- Every comment you did not pasteThis is the big one. The checker sees the comments you copied over, at the moment you copied them. Spam posted at 2am under a running ad sits there until you happen to look.
- Wording it has never seenIt knows the patterns written into it. Every new scam script and slang term is invisible until someone adds it by hand. The list is never finished.
- The difference between a scammer and a buyerA pattern cannot read intent. Someone asking whether your product is a scam is a customer with an objection, and answering them is how you keep the sale.
- Every language it has no patterns forThe patterns here are English. If you run ads in Arabic, French, or Spanish, this checker has very little to say about those comments.
- Spam that is a pictureA screenshot, or a profile photo doing the selling, carries no text to check. There is nothing here to match against.
- Actually doing something about itThis tool tells you. It cannot hide anything, because it has no connection to your account. Every verdict still needs you to go and act on it by hand.

Questions people actually ask
- Anything posted to use your audience rather than talk to you. Under paid ads it is mostly four things: the scam pitch (crypto, fake giveaways, prize claims), contact bait pushing buyers into WhatsApp or Telegram, links to somewhere you did not send them, and accounts pretending to be your support team. Walls of emojis belong there too, since they exist to farm attention.
